Markos Abebe is a Senior Researcher at the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) and Adjunct Associate Professor of Immunology at Addis Ababa University, Institute of Biotechnology. He received his PhD in TB immunology from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark (2008). He is recipient of the first AHRI Tore Godal Prize (2001) for his contribution in infectious disease research. He won grants from EDCTP and DFG for his postdoctoral research. Dr Markos developed a modified immunological method of detecting the presence of antigen specific lymphocytes in immune-compromised individuals and submitted patent application to the European Patent Office. Dr Markos has published a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
