Zewdie Bishaw is a Regional Coordinator of Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Program (SSRAP) and Head of Seed Section & International Nurseries at International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). He has a PhD in Production Ecology and Sustainable Conservation from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He held previous positions at ICARDA as Acting Head of Capacity Development Unit, Seed Systems Specialist and Coordinator of West Asia and North Africa Regional Seed Network and Seed Production Specialist and Training Officer. He also led the Flagship on Seed Delivery Systems under Consortium Research Programs of CGIAR on Dryland Cereals, Grain Legumes and Wheat. He worked as Head of Seed Quality Control Department and Seed Processing Department of the Ethiopian Seed Corporation (ESC). He is serving as member of the National Seed Advisory Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and as a member of the advisory group for the Ethiopian Seed Association (ESA). He is an authority in seed sector development nationally, regionally and globally; and was part of the technical working groups on seed security and seed policy convened by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. He has published extensively in his field.
