Workneh Ayalew is a research scientist with the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Ethiopia. He holds a PhD degree in Animal Production and Breeding from the Georg-August University of Goettingen, Germany. He served as Director of the Livestock Value Chains at the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), and as Deputy Director General (research) for the Papua New Guinea National Agricultural Research Institute. He has served as President of the Ethiopian Society of Animal Production, and Assistant Editor of the Editorial Board of the Ethiopian Journal of Animal Production (EJAP) for several years. He has received awards and recognitions for meritorious service and research leadership and has several publications in journals and book chapters.
