On July 27, 2023, the Austrian ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. Dr. Simone Knapp, paid a visit to the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS) at the invitation of the Academy. The purpose of the visit was to foster collaboration and strengthen ties between Austria and Ethiopia in the field of science and technology.
The ambassador received a warm welcome from the Executive Director of EAS, Prof. Teketel Yohannes, Dr. Tibebeselassie Seyoum, and other members of the EAS staff. The meeting provided an opportunity for Prof. Teketel to deliver a comprehensive presentation on the history, establishment, objectives, and ongoing projects of the Academy.
Prof. Teketel highlighted the Academy’s significant contributions in various areas, including population studies, gender mainstreaming, and capacity development of Applied Universities in Ethiopia. The Academy’s commitment to advancing the knowledge and skills of children and youth in science and technology was also emphasized.
