Professor Johannes Kinfu, Professor Emeritus of Accounting and Finance at the Addis Ababa University (AAU) and a Fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS), passed away on March 13, 2017.
Professor Johannes made an innumerable contribution to the profession of accounting and finance through his half a century long engagement in the field that includes service as the Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics at the AAU.
Prof. Johannes received the BEN-Africa award in 2008; the ACCA awards in 2007; the Fulbright Scholars in 1985 and the Frederic Ebert Foundation: Senior Research Fellow in 1986. Prof. Johannes was a member of IFAC and EXCO; Editor of Public Enterprise Journal, ICPE; Consulting ECA/UNDP, Association of African Universities; Pan-African Consultative Forum on Corporate Governance (2001).
EAS expresses its deepest sympathy at the passing of a dear fellow and an icon to the profession of accounting and finance. A good friend and colleague to the Fellows of EAS, he will be missed by his peers, his family and relatives. The country has lost a dedicated servant and a professional icon. May his soul rest in peace.
