Getachew Gebru has a Ph.D. degree in Animal Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison. As President of Ethiopian Society of Animal Production (ESAP), he has led ESAP to become an umbrella organization and a platform for dialogue on policy issues. He is a member of the livestock sector analysis and master plan team at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Getachew has contributed towards the development of Livestock Master Plans in Tanzania, Rwanda, Uzbekistan, and State of Bihar in India. He is a recipient of the BIFAD 2015 award and the ILRI award in 2017. He has published widely, including a paper on SCIENCE.
