የኢትዮጵያ ሳይንስ አካዳሚ ዜና መጽሔት

ይህ የዜና መጽሔት አካዳሚው ካሁን በፊት በየሦስት ወሩ በእንግሊዝኛ ቋንቋ እያዘጋጀ ሲያሰራጭ የነበረው EAS Update ቀጣይ ነው፡፡ በአማርኛ ቋንቋ እንዲዘጋጅ እና በኮቪድ-19 ላይ እንዲያተኩር የተደረገውም በዓለማችንና በአገራችን በከፍተኛ ደረጃ እየተስፋፋና ጉዳት እያስከተለ ያለውን ወረርሽኝ በሚመለከት ጠቃሚ መረጃዎችን ለሕብረተሰቡ በስፋት ለማስተላለፍ በማሰብ ነው፡፡ ይህ ደግሞ አካዳሚው በአሁኑ ወቅት አገራችንን ከኮቪድ-19 ወረርሽኝ ለመታደግ ትኩረት ሰጥቶ መንቀሳቀስ እንደሚገባ ካለው እምነት የመነጨ ነው፡፡

Finding the Balance: Public Health and Social Measures in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Academy of Sciences is collaborating with the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS), which itself is collaborating with a group called Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) in response to the current coronavirus pandemic. Through this collaboration, EAS and other African academies are disseminating the RTSL reports and briefs. These briefs include timely data and information on non-pharmacological approaches to flattening the COVID-19 curve. The EAS is hereby sharing the reports and briefs for possible policy input and the data to help in making policy decisions.

Substantial undocumented infection facilitates the rapid dissemination of novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV2)

Country experiences with COVID-19 show that not every case of the virus will be documented. However, undocumented but infectious cases play a role in the spread of the pandemic. In response to the corona-virus pandemic, countries are putting in place social distancing and lockdown measures to contain the spread of the virus. How effective is social distancing and what is the interplay between age, contact patterns, social distancing, susceptibility to infection, and COVID-19 dynamics?
