Ethio-American Scientist Sossina Haile Awarded 2020 David Turnbull Lectureship

The Materials Research Society’s (MRS) David Turnbull Lectureship recognizes the career contributions of a scientist to fundamental understanding of the science of materials through experimental and/or theoretical research. In the spirit of the life work of David Turnbull, writing and lecturing also can be factors in the selection process. This year’s award honors Sossina M. Haile, Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern University, for her “fundamental contributions to the electrochemical and thermochemical materials science that advance sustainable energy, for her commitment to the broader international materials community, and for being an inspiring colleague and passionate mentor.

Sossina Haile is a fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences, the Materials Research Society, the American Ceramics Society and the African Academy of Sciences.
