Dear EAS Fellows and Associate Fellows,
We are deeply saddened to hear the news that Prof. Kassahun Berhanu, a Fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences and member of the Social Sciences and Humanities working group, has passed away.
Prof. Kassahun Berhanu was a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at AAU. He served for over 35 years at AAU. He taught several undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervised MA and PhD students. He published in reputable international journals based on which he won competitive awards as visiting fellow at different institutions of higher education and research in Africa, Europe, the USA, Japan, and China. He was a member of the current leadership of the Social Science and Humanities working group of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences.
The funeral was held at Yeka Michael Church on February 23, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the presence of the leadership of the Academy, fellows, and friends of Prof. Kassahun Berhanu.
The Ethiopian Science Academy extends its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Prof. Kassahun.

ውድ የኢትዮጵያ ሳይንስ አካዳሚ አባላት እና ተባባሪ አባላት
የኢትዮጵያ ሳይንስ አካዳሚ አባል እና የማህበራዊ ሳይንስ እና ሥነ ሰባዕታት የሥራ ቡድን አባል የሆኑት ፕሮፌሰር ካሳሁን ብርሃኑ ከዚህ ዓለም በሞት በመለየታቸው ጥልቅ ሀዘን ተሰምቶናል።
ፕሮፌሰር ካሳሁን ብርሃኑ በአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በፖለቲካ ሳይንስና ዓለም አቀፍ ግንኙነት መምህርነት ሙያ ከ35 ዓመታት ከማገልገላቸው በተጨማሪ በርካታ የቅድመ ምረቃ፣ የድህረ ምረቃ እና የሦስተኛ ድግሪ (PhD) ተማሪዎችን የጥናትና ምርምር ሥራዎችን በማማከር የዕውቀት ሽግግር አድርገዋል።
በጥናትና ምርምር ረገድ በርካታ ጥናትና ምርምር ሥራዎቻቸውን በአለም አቀፍ ታዋቂ ጆርናሎች ላይ አሳትመዋል።
ፕሮፌሰር ካሳሁን አካዳሚውንና አገራቸውን በሞያቸው በማገልገል ላይ እያሉ ባደረባቸው ድንገተኛ ሕመም ከዚህ ዓለም በሞት በመለየታቸው መላው የአካዳሚው ማህበረሰብ የተሰማውን ጥልቅ ሐዘን እየገለጸ ለቤተሰቦቻቸው፤ ለሙያ ባልደረቦቻቸው እና ወዳጅ ዘመዶቻቸው ሁሉ መጽናናትን ይመኛል፡፡
የፕሮፌሰር ካሳሁን ብርሃኑ የቀብር ሥነ ሥርዓት የካቲት 16 ቀን 2014 ዓ.ም ከቀኑ 9፡00 ሰዓት የአካዳሚው አመራሮች፣ አባላት እና ወዳጅ ዘመዶቻቸው በተገኙበት በየካ ሚካኤል ቤተክርስቲያን ተፈጽሟል።
