The Ethiopian Academy of Sciences congratulates Professor Sebsebe Demisew, one of its founding fellows, on receiving the prestigious José Cuatrecasas Medal for Excellence in Tropical Botany for his life’s work in conserving & recording Ethiopian flora & for important contributions to a global understanding of plant biodiversity from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
Professor Sebsebe is a Plant Systems and Biodiversity Professor at Addis Ababa University and Former Executive Director of the Gulele Botanical Garden in Addis Ababa.
Her Excellency Tracy Ann Jacobson, the US ambassador to Ethiopia, attended the recognition ceremony at the Sabatania Botanical Center.
