የኢትዮጵያ ሳይንስ አካዳሚ በከፍተኛ የትምህርትና የምርምር ተቋማት የፆታ እኩልነትና ፍትሃዊነትን ለማረጋገጥ እየሰራ መሆኑን ገለጸ።
በአካዳሚውና በዓለም አቀፍ ሳይንስን የማምጠቅና ፖሊሲ መረብ /International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP) በተሰኘና ተቀማጭነቱ ለንደን በሆነው ድርጅት ድጋፍ እ.አ.አ. በ2020 የተመሰረተው የኢትዮጵያ የሥርዓተ-ፆታ መማማሪያ መድረክ /Ethiopian Gender Learning Forum (EGLF)/ ጠቅላላ ጉባዔ ከነሐሴ 17–19 2014 ዓ.ም እየተካሄደ ይገኛል፡፡
የመድረኩ ዋና ዓላማ በከፍተኛ የትምህርት እና በምርምር ተቋማት የሚሠሩ ሴት ከፍተኛ ባለሙያዎች የሥርዓተ ፆታ ተሳትፎ እኩልነትና ፍትሐዊነት ለማረጋገጥ በጋራ ለመስራት እና ልምድ ለመለዋወጥ የሚያስችል ማዕቀፍ መፍጠር ነው።
መድረኩ በሦስቱ ቀናት ስብሰባው የመድረኩን ጠቅላላ ጉባኤ 2ኛ ዓመታዊ ስብሰባ እንደሚያካሂድ፣ ለቀጣይ ሦስት አመታት መድረኩን የሚመሩ የቦርድ አባላትን ምርጫ እንደሚያካሂድና የመድረኩን የአምስት ዓመት ስትራቴጂክ ዕቅድ እንደሚያረቅ በአካዳሚው የመድረኩ አስተባባሪ የሆኑት ወ/ት ማህደር መኳንንት የጉባዔውን መርሐ ግብሮች ባስተዋወቁበት ወቅት ገልጸዋል።
ስብሰባው የአካዳሚዉ ሥራ አስፈፃሚ ዳይሬክተር ፕሮፌሰር ተከተል ዮሐንስ ባደረጉት የመክፈቻ ንግግር ተከፍቷል፡፡
በንግግራቸውም በሴት ከፍተኛ ባለሙያዎች ተነሳሽነት ለተመሰረተው የሥርዓተ ፆታ መማማሪያ መድረክ ድጋፍ በመስጠት በከፍተኛ የትምህርት እና በምርምር ተቋማት የሥርዓተ ፆታ እኩልነትንና ተጠቃሚነትን ለማስፋፋት አካዳሚው እየሠራ እንደሚገኝ ገልጸዋል፡፡ መድረኩ ራሱን ችሎ የሚሠራ ተቋም እንዲሆን የማብቃት ግብ ተጥሎ እየተሠራ መሆኑንም ጠቁመዋል።
ሴቶች ከዓለም ህዝብ ቁጥር 50 በመቶ የሚሆነውን ድርሻ ቢይዙም በሳይንስ፣ በምርምር እና በማኅበራዊ አገልግሎት ዘርፎች ያላቸው ተሳተፎ ግን ከ30 በመቶ በታች መሆኑን የፎረሙ አደራጅ ኮሚቴ ሰብሳቢ ዶክተር አስተር ጸጋዬ ገልጸዋል።
አያይዘውም ዘላቂ የልማት ግቦችን ለማሳካት በሁሉም የልማት ዘርፎች የሴቶችን ተሳትፎ በማሳደግ፣ አካታች ፖሊሲዎችን በመደገፍና መልካም አርአያ የሆኑ ሴት ምሁራንን በማብቃት የሴቶችን ሚና ማሳደግ ይገባል ብለዋል።
በማህበረሰቡ ዘንድ ሴቶች እንደ ወንዶች መሥራት እንደማይችሉ የሚቆጥረው ጎታች አስተሳሰብ ተወግዶ በራሳቸው የሚተማመኑ እንዲሆኑ ለማስቻል፤ ‘‘እችላለሁ’’ በሚል ጠንካራ ሥነ ልቦና ተነሳስተው አበረታች ውጤት ያስመዘገቡ ግንባር ቀደሞችን ተሞክሮዎች አጠናክሮ ማስቀጠልና ወንዶችም አጋርነታቸውን ከምንጊዜውም የበለጠ ማሳየት እንደሚኖርባቸው የመድረኩ ተሳታፊዎች ገልጸዋል።
እንዲሁም ለሥርዓተ ፆታ መማማሪያ መድረክ መቋቋምና መጠናከር ድጋፍ በመስጠት የሥርዓተ ፆታ እኩልነትና ተጠቃሚነትን በአገራችን ለማስፋፋት አካዳሚው እያሳየ ላለው ቁጠኝነት አመስግነዋል፡፡ የሴቶች ተሳትፎ እውን የሚሆነውም ሁሉም ተቋማት በባለቤትነትና በቅንጅት ሲሠሩ፤ ሴት ምሁራንም ጉዳዩን በልዩ ትኩረት ይዘው ሲሠሩበት እንደሆነ አባላቱ ተናግረዋል።

The Ethiopian Academy of Sciences is working towards ensuring gender equality and equity in the higher education and research institutions.
The Academy in collaboration with the International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP), an organization based in London, facilitated establishment of the Ethiopian Gender Learning Forum (EGLF) in 2020. The Forum is conducting the second annual meeting of its General Assembly from August 23-25, 2022.
The main objective of the Forum is to encourage female senior professionals working in higher education and research institutions to work on gender equality and equity through working together and exchange of their experience on gender-related activities.
Ms. Mahider Mekuanint, Senior Project Officer at the Academy and coordinator of the forum, said that the event includes the 2nd Annual Meeting of the General Assembly, election of Board members, drafting of the forum’s five-year strategic plan, and Meeting of the Board over the course of the three days.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting of the General Assembly, Executive Director of EAS, Prof. Teketel Yohannes, said that the Academy is working to promote gender equality and equity in the higher education and research institutions by supporting the forum established by the initiatives of female senior researchers and educators.
According to Dr. Aster Tsagaye, the chairperson of the Core Group of the Forum explained that participation of women in the fields of science, research and social services is less than 30 percent although they make up 50 percent of the world’s population. She added that to achieve the global sustainable development goals, it is necessary to increase participation of women in all areas of development through supporting inclusive policies and empowering women.
Members of the forum also said that women who are self-confident, motivated by a strong mentality that they can do it and have achieved encouraging results should come forward and share their experiences. They also called on men to show their solidarity now more than ever to get rid of the negative attitude of the society that considers women are incapable of doing what men can do that
The participants acknowledged the Academy for its determination to promote gender equality and provide continued support for the Forum, and they affirmed that gender equality and equity will be realized when all institutions collaboratively work with the sense of high level responsibility and commitment. It was also underlined that women scholars shall work on the issue with special attention and determination.
