Addis Ababa, August 13, 2025 – H.E. Kristina Radej, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia’s Embassy in Ethiopia, visited the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS) to discuss potential partnerships in science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development. She was accompanied by Vesna Dolinšek, Second Secretary and Deputy Head of Mission.

The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Teketel Yohannes, Executive Director of EAS, who provided an overview of the Academy’s mission and key achievements since its inception. Professor Yohannes emphasized EAS’s critical role in shaping national policy through research on pressing socio-economic challenges and delivering evidence-based recommendations to the government and stakeholders.

Ambassador Radej highlighted Slovenia’s expertise in agriculture, climate resilience, and apiculture, noting the country’s successful initiatives such as World Bee Day. She reaffirmed Slovenia’s commitment to fostering collaboration with the EAS in key areas, including:
- Apiculture and honey production
- Water diplomacy and sustainable resource management
- Science and technology diplomacy
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Academy’s Science and STEM Center, where the delegation observed interactive exhibits and youth-focused programs designed to enhance scientific literacy and innovation.

This engagement marks a promising step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in research and technological advancement between Slovenia and Ethiopia.
