The Coronavirus Pandemic and the Socio-Economic and Political Order in Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS) has been collaborating with the US National Academy of Sciences (US NAS) on accessing, synthesizing, and disseminating policy briefs on evidence-based response to COVID-19.  This effort was aimed at informing policy decisions in Ethiopia that balance the benefit of public health measures for reducing transmission with other priorities, including economic and social impacts.

The EAS organized an Ad-hoc Coordinating Committee to coordinate the collaborative activities and organize online sessions/webinars for disseminating the synthesized policy briefs. On October 22, 2020, Prof. Getnet Tadele, EAS Fellow and member of the Ad-hoc Coordinating Committee presented a webinar seminar on “The Coronavirus Pandemic and the Socio-Economic and Political Order in Ethiopia”. The Seminar was attended by EAS Fellows, staff of the College of Health Sciences, AAU, members of health professional associations and policy makers.
