ADDIS ABABA On September 26/2025, the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS) participated in a high-level meeting between Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT) and China’s Ministry of Science and Technology to boost bilateral cooperation.
Professor Teketel Yohannes, Executive Director of the EAS, represented the Academy, highlighting potential collaboration areas between the EAS and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Chinese Academy of Sciences was also represented by Mr. Liu Weidong, who underscored the importance of collaboration between the two sister academies.
Minister of MinT Ethiopia, H.E. Dr. Belete Molla, emphasized the collaboration’s necessity of collaboration for achieving shared strategic goals and implementing the FOCAC agenda in the digital sector.
China’s Minister of Science and Technology, H.E. Mr. Yin Hejun, affirmed China’s commitment to elevating cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
The discussions focused on strengthening joint research, academic collaborations, and implementing FOCAC 2024 action plans concerning digital economy, AI, and cybersecurity.
