Prof. Teketel Yohannes, Executive Director of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS), and Dr. Birhanu Beshah, Co-chair of the Ethiopian Young Academy of Sciences (EtYAS), recently attended the ‘Academic Forum of Young Scholars of Greater Eurasia’ conference in Moscow, Russia, from November 1 to 4, 2023.
During the event, Prof. Teketel delivered an opening speech, providing an overview of EAS and EtYAS. He emphasized the universality of science and the importance of cooperation on common agendas such as health, food, environment, and security.
Prof. Teketel participated in the chemistry session, where he presented a paper titled ‘Solar Energy: A Renewable Energy Source for Sustainable Development.’ Meanwhile, Dr. Birhanu attended the artificial intelligence session.
To further extend collaboration between the Academies, a productive discussion was held with the head of international relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Both parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and pursue a common agenda.
