Dr. Miliard Derbew Beyene, FRCS, FACS, FCS ECSA, is Emeritus professor of pediatric surgery at Addis Ababa University and an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto. A leader in global surgery, he served as CEO of King Faisal Hospital Rwanda (2020–2022) and President of COSECSA (2015–2017). He led NIH-funded projects like MEPI (2010–2015), MEPI-JF (2018–2022), and HEPI (2017), focusing on Research and health workforce development. Formerly President of the Surgical Society of Ethiopia (2011–2015) and the founding president of Association of Ethiopian Pediatric Surgeons. Was Dean of AAU SOM (2007–2011), and A,CED of CHS 2010 -11 ) he has published over 90 articles . He is Lifebox Global Governing Council member. He is an affiliate in the department of international health, at Bloomberg School Of Public Health JHU.
