He is Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health, Consultant Public Health Specialist and Bioethicist. Currently adjunct Professor of Public Health and Bioethics at School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, AAU. At the Ministry of Education, he is serving as Research Ethics Senior Advisor and member of the National Research Ethics Review Board (NRERB). He leads and participates in two projects in the Ministry of Education funded by EDCTP. He is mentor and lead trainer in research ethics for universities and research institutions in Ethiopia.
He is chairperson and member of different national committees at the Ministry of Health. He is also chairperson and board member of local and international organizations that work for the welfare of children. Fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences.
