We are deeply saddened to hear the news that Dr. Tewolde Gebre Egziabher, Fellow of the EAS, has passed away.
Dr. Tewolde Berhan Gebre Egziabher was Plant Ecologist who served as Director General of the Environmental Protection Authority. He was also Director of the Ethiopian Conservation Strategy Secretariat; President of Asmara University; Ethiopia’s Chief Negotiator in several environmental conventions. He is the recipient of Right Livelihood Award (Alternate Nobel Prize); Champion of the Earth Award, UNEP; and the National Green Award from the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. He has published extensively.
