Alemayehu Worku is Professor of Public Health/Biostatistics at the School of Public Health of Addis Ababa University. He has a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Leipzig, Germany. He has served in capacity building and knowledge transfer programs in public health at Jimma, Gondar, Mekelle, Haramaya, Hawassa and Arbaminch universities. He has served as member and chair of national and international data and safety monitoring boards for different multi-site clinical trials. He is a member and founder of the capacity building committee of the Global Network for Evaluation and Monitoring of Health programs. He received the 2011 Ethiopian Public Health Association Senior Researcher Gold Medal Award, and the Best Researcher Award by the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University in 2014. Prof. Alemayehu has published widely in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, HIV/ TB/ Malaria and eye diseases.
