Professor Yalemtsehay Mekonnen is a Professor of Cell and Human Physiology in Addis Ababa University (AAU). She has served in key administrative roles in AAU. She has received numerous accolades, including the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Award and the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award for excellence in Science. Her multifaceted contributions to academia, mentorship, and research networks exemplify her enduring commitment to advancing science and supporting the next generation of scientists, especially women, in Ethiopia. She is the founding member of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences and currently she is the Principal Vice President of the Academy.
