Prof. Zelealem Leyew Temesgen

Zelealem Leyew is a professor of linguistics in the Department of Linguistics at Addis Ababa University. He is involved in teaching and research, as well as advising graduate students. His research interests include language description, sociolinguistics, anthropological linguistics, educational linguistics, and ethnobiology. Zelealem’s current focus is on documenting endangered languages and cultures, with a special emphasis on indigenous knowledge practices among various ethnolinguistic groups in Ethiopia. He is also interested in multilingual language use in social media. He serves on the editorial boards of scholarly publications and is a research fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany.
