Dr. Melesse Temesgen Leye

Melesse Temesgen Leye is an Ethiopian agricultural engineer, innovator, and co-founder of Aybar Engineering PLC. Holding BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Agricultural Engineering, he has served as a researcher, director of mechanization research, and lecturer. He has registered over 10 patents and now focuses on scaling affordable mechanization technologies for smallholder farmers. His Aybar Broad Bed Maker has transformed wheat and barley production, benefiting more than 650,000 households. Melesse has received multiple honors, including two national awards, the African Innovation Prize, The Hague Entrepreneurship Award (2019), and the Pride of Newcastle University Award (2021).
