Professor Kassahun Bantte got his Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology. He has more than 35 years of teaching and research experience. He has served Jimma University in various positions. Currently he is the head of the Plant and Animal Biotechnology Research Center of Jimma University,
His research interest is in the improvement of crops and has won various research grants on sorghum improvement including from USAID and the Gates Foundation.
He has published over 60 publications. He has supervised the thesis research work of over 50 MSc and PhD. students. He was awarded as the best researcher two times at Jimma University.
