Gobena Ameni is a Professor of Veterinary Infectious Diseases and Zoonoses at the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the United Arab Emirates University. He is also an adjunct Professor at the Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathobiology, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Dr Ameni gained DVM in 1996 from the Addis Ababa University and PhD in Clinical Microbiology from the Imperial College, University of London in 2009. His research interest includes hosts’ immunity and genetics of pathogens exploring host-pathogen interactions aiming at developing diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines so as to control infectious diseases.
