EAP

Introduction

The Ethiopian Academy Press (EAS) is the publishing arm of the Ethiopian academy of Sciences (EAS). EAS established EAP to advance its mission of becoming a hub of scientific and intellectual activities in Ethiopia. To this effect, EAP receives, solicits and publishes manuscripts by authors, compilers and editors.  EAP also initiates in-house projects that accord with the EAS vision, mission and annual activities. It publishes scholarly works that helps popularize scientific knowledge and literature related Ethiopian culture and history.

Objectives

EAP strives to achieve the following objectives

  • To popularize science in Ethiopia through accessible publications and language; and
  • To produce and disseminate high quality publications to advance the frontiers of knowledge

Scope of the publications

EAP’s outputs cover wide range of publications such as the following:

  • books opening new frontiers of scientific knowledge and popularizing sciences,
  • original research works,
  • important autobiographies and biographies,
  • dictionaries and glossaries,
  • reprint of rare books,
  • literary criticisms,
  • history books,
  • general knowledge books,
  • political or philosophical treatises,
  • folklore collections, and
  • Other educational, researches, policy oriented publications that are rarely produced by local commercial publishers.

The EAP DOES NOT publish

  • Creative works such as , fictions, poems and plays
  • Text books, and
  • News magazines and Magazines

Publishing Languages

  • So far, we have been publishing books written in Amharic and English
  • We publish books written in any of Ethiopian Languages including foreign books translated into local languages.
