Birhanu Hadush (PhD, Associate Professor) is a veterinarian with specialization in Tropical Animal Health (Disease control) from the Institute of Tropical Medicine and a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven. With over 19 years at Mekelle University, he has extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, research, community outreach, and consultancy, alongside holding key academic and research leadership roles. His expertise covers pathogen isolation and characterization, molecular epidemiology, diagnostic marker development, vaccine and drug resistance mechanisms, and the One Health approach. He has secured multiple research grants, published widely, and has practical experience in livestock export. Since December 2023, he has been a member of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences.
