Dr. Amare Haileselassie is a Principal Researcher at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), based in East Africa and the Nile Basin office, Addis Ababa. He holds a PhD in nutrient cycling, soil fertility management, and bioclimatology from the University of Göttingen, Germany. With over 30 years of experience across Ethiopia, Germany, India, and Africa, he has worked with ILRI, ICRISAT, IWMI, and national institutions. His expertise spans agricultural water management, irrigation agronomy, watershed management, and sustainable farming systems, with a strong track record in research-for-development, capacity building, and partnership building.
