Abera Kumie Takele

Prof Abera Kumie is a national environmental Health Specialist who has served the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia for over 15 years in environmental health since the graduation of his first degree (1983-1999). He joined Addis Ababa University in 2000, where he is currently engaged in teaching, advising MPH and PhD trainees, and providing community services. He owns over 100 publications in the areas of Environmental and Occupational Health.
Since 2015, he has been involved in the NIH-funded Global and Occupational Health for Research and Training in Eastern Africa (GEOHealth Hub). This research project generates evidence on the effects of air pollution on health. His research interests include environmental health, climate change, and public health.
