Bekele Gutema is Professor of Philosophy at Addis Ababa University. He obtained his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Vienna, Austria. Presently, he is the Director of the Graduate Programs of Addis Ababa University. He also served the University in various capacities, including as Chairperson of the Department of Philosophy, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Editor-in-Chief of The Ethiopian Journal of the Social Sciences and Humanities, which he helped establish. He is a recipient of several awards including the Fulbright Fellowship, Visiting Research Scholar, Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (Kyoto University). Professor Bekele published widely in the areas of African philosophy and intercultural philosophy.
