Prof. Aberra Melesse

Prof Aberra Melesse obtained his PhD degree in Animal Breeding at Martin-Luther University, Germany in 2000. He has over 35 years of experience in teaching, student supervision and research in Africa, Europe, and the USA. During his service period, he assumed various administrative positions. He has been in charge of over 30 national and international research projects, funded by various organizations. He has authored/co-authored over 250 peer reviewed journal articles, proceedings, and other events. He won the best researcher award of Hawassa University in 2024. He received a certificate as a top researcher in 2024. Prof Aberra has been the advisor or co-advisor of over 81 MSc students (77 completed) and 27 PhD students (15 completed). He is currently a Humboldt Ambassador Scientist of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Ethiopia.
