Professor Telahun Teka obtained his Doctor of Medicine (1981) and Specialty Certificate in Pediatrics and Child Health (1987) from the School of Medicine, Addis Ababa University. He received MPH from the School of Public Health Brussels, Belgium, (1990) and Postgraduate diploma in International Research Ethics, University of Cape Town (2006). He was an International Research Fellow at the International Center for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (1994-96). He has served in Gondar and Addis Ababa Universities as Department Head, and Medical Director of Gondar Teaching Hospital. Professor Telahun is lead trainer in IMNCI, MLM Immunization, Pediatric HIV, PMTCT, Pediatric Nutrition. He was also member of the Medical Faculty Research and Publication Committee and Addis Ababa University Senate Research and Publication Committee. He is currently Chairperson of the National Polio Expert Committee (FMOH). He is also Chairperson of the National Research Ethics Review Committee (MOST). He was founding member of East African Pediatric Association (EAPA) and Pediatrics AIDS Treatment for Africa (PATA). He participated in many research projects involving clinical trials, and epidemiological, operational and program assessments. Professor Telahun has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on general pediatrics, diarrheal diseases and pediatric nutrition.
