Ethio-German Sustainable Training & Education Program
(STEP III)-UAS Project
In response to the observed gaps in the skilled labor market in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences(EAS) and Ethio-German Sustainable Training and Education Program-UAS (STEP-III) have designed and implementing a project in partnership with Ethiopian Ministry of Education.
The project aims to support the transformation of selected comprehensive universities
to universities of applied sciences to bring industry and the academia work collaboratively to
achieve the goal of self-reliant Ethiopia.
The project entitled “Supporting Identified Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) through Defined Capacity Building on Specified targets” implemented in Fifteen Selected universities of applied sciences. The intervention involves various stakeholders, such as government organizations, international UAS, industries, and non-governmental institutions. The project is undergoing with the objectives of:
- Train 150 faculty and administrators, assess the impact of training, & make sure at least
50% implement transfer project - Roll out technical, didactical, & digital training for 150 UAS lecturers (30 % women),
and conduct evaluation on applications - Conduct Two national level HETRIIL forums
- Train 1,500 students to prepare them for employment.
The project has two years of life span from November 2022 to October 2024.
