Ayana Angassa is An Associate Professor of Range Ecology at Hawassa University (HU). He obtained his PhD in Range Ecology from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway (2007). In the past, he served HU as Acting Head of Department of Animal Production and Rangeland Management and Head of Department of Animal and Range Sciences. He was also the Manager of Borana Cattle Breed Conservation and Improvement Ranch under the Ministry of Agriculture before joining Hawassa University. He has initiated several international and regional partnerships in teaching and research and has led and conducted many research projects with collaborators from Eastern, Western and Southern African countries and Europe. He is a recipient of several research awards and fellowships, including the NUFU, IFS, Food security research awards and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship. Dr. Ayana is an active member of professional associations at the national level. Dr. Ayana has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals in his areas of specialization.
