Andreas Eshete studied philosophy at Williams College and Yale University in USA and has taught at a number of American universities such as Brown and UCLA-Berkeley. He is currently UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Peace and Democracy and Advisor to the Prime Minster of the FDRE with ministerial portfolio. He served as President of AAU from 2003-2011. He supported the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences, by providing space and facility for the Secretariat at AAU. He also assisted the Academy to obtain Governmental recognition through an Act-of-Parliament. Professor Andreas has widely published essays on moral and political philosophy.
