Fentahun Mengistu has a Ph.D. degree in Agriculture/Natural resources from Boku University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. He is currently the Country Director of Sasakawa Global 2000 (SG2000)-Ethiopia. In his research career at Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR), where he was also Director General, he was a pioneer in adapting, studying/validating and recommending a crop-storage pest control technology based on a solar-heated polyethylene sheet and a zero-energy cool chamber facility for extending the shelf life of perishable horticulture products. Fentahun has published extensively.
