Gizahegne Yirgu is Professor and former Dean of the Faculty of Science and Dean of the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences at AAU. He received awards and honors as visiting Research Fellow of the Royal Society of London, UK; as Associate Researcher at Centre National de la Rechereche Scientifique, France; and Visiting Scholar, Pennsylvania State University, USA. He has published extensively in national and international journals.
